My Project
I teach a full day Kindergarten class at a Title I school, and I love it! My students come from very diverse backgrounds and for many of my students, it is their first exposure to English and a classroom setting. My students speak English, Spanish, and other languages. Many of my students come from limited English proficiency homes, and half of them come from very low socioeconomic backgrounds. Sadly, some also come from homes with a trauma background and experience food and housing scarcity. The structure and routine school provide them with is often the only time they experience security.
I would like to request some reading manipulatives that go along with the science of reading to keep my literacy centers fresh and engaging for my little learners as they play and learn reading skills with one another in a safe setting.
My students are in kindergarten all day and need to play, be comfortable, and learn from one another. Remember, play isn't just relief from learning, play is serious learning for 5- and 6-year-olds!
By donating to this project, I will be able to provide my students with engaging manipulatives so they can feel the excitement and joy of playing and learning reading skills together in our classroom!
