This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are in the third-grade bilingual program. My school is a Title I campus which means that 80% of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. At our school, more than 50% of students are Black, Latino, and/or Native American, and more than 50% come from low-income households.
I teach 31 curious and creative third graders from Spanish-speaking homes.
Math is essential in everyday life. My students sometimes struggle with math and find it easier when math becomes a game. Math games provide students the opportunity to build their knowledge and encourage active learning,
My students love to play math games but we don't have the resources and materials.
With your donations and support, my students can play hands-on math games. These games will provide the students with a fun and engaging way to practice skills.
We can use these math games every day. The materials I chose can be used independently, with a partner, or in a small group. This will also promote teamwork, leadership and problem-solving skills.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
