Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My first grade classroom is a room full of eager and kind students. The students range in age from six to seven years old. My school is located in Nevada in a very high need neighborhood. Our school is an elementary STEAM academy where our students are encouraged to invent, explore and be creative. They are inquisitive and have a real joy of learning. My students are always eager to come to school, and take great pride in their work.
My Project
My students love to grow as mathematicians, and to do that, we are constantly working on our core math skills. First graders learn best by using hands-on materials, which is why these math games and manipulatives would make such an effective addition to our classroom. Our class is very appreciative of any hands-on materials they get to use, and they are very excited to grow even more as learners. By solidifying their math competency and fluency, they will grow stronger as problem-solvers. Growing stronger as problem-solvers can help us both inside and out of the classroom. We appreciate our donors!
