This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school consists of students that come from low income families. Every year there are more and more students getting diagnosed with special needs. My class consists of children ages 3-5 years old with multiple disabilities.

I teach preschool special education on a general education campus in California.

Outdoor play is such an important part of education these days for ALL children. Some of our students never get a chance to play outdoors except during school. Exposing our students to different types of outdoor activities is my goal for this year!

My Project

In the modern world of games consoles and interactive toys, it's easy to overlook the importance of outdoor play. With the current trend of rising obesity rates in children, it has never been more important to teach young children the value of being active outside.

Playing outdoors promotes self-confidence, fine motor skills, social skills and balance.

It promotes self-reliance, increases flexibility and improves overall coordination.

We are encouraging our students to play with sand, build with blocks, use their eye hand coordination and much more! All of these outdoor activities will teach our children practical life skills while offering a tremendous amount of fun.
