Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am requesting pencils, dry erase markers, learning games, material to teach the importance of equity, and pencil boxes. The pencils will be used everyday when we are practicing writing stories, when writing stories, and working on mathematics. We always start the year with a big supply of pencils but we seem to lose some of them or wear them down until they are only 2 inches long! With these pencils, I am confident we can write from the first day of school until the last day of school! In our classroom, we have dry erase board and my students love writing on them! We practice math and reading concepts daily with students writng the answer to the question instead of getting a worksheet. We go through a lot of markers so having an extra stash in the cabinet will ensure we never run out! My students sit at tables and each student has a large bin with all of their materials (math workbook, reading workbook, headphones, etc.). It would be great if each student also has a pencil box to store their pencils, dry erase markers, erasers, scissors, and glue sticks. That way, they are not dropping things on the floor or losing them because they will be secured in the pencil box. They will have everything they need right at their seats without having to walk around the room asking to borrow something from a friend. They can spend their time working and learning!
The equity books are for use with Social and Emotional Learning.
These books will be used as read alouds for class discussion on how to accept all that are different.
