Help me give my students reusable wipe-and-write sleeves to help them trace at home and the sensory squeeze beads to help them regulate their emotions at home.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am lucky enough to be the teacher of 6 amazing students. My students normally attend a special education school due to the fact that they have been diagnosed with severe autism as well as other learning and physical delays. However, if you ever met my students you would know that does not stop them from wanting to learn. Currently due to this pandemic my students are currently learning remotely. This means they are forced to log onto computers/tablets with their parents instead of engaging in a classroom structured learning environment.
Their routines have been greatly shaken up and they are currently struggling to grasp this online world.
My students need hands-on materials that will help them continue to learn. Due to my students' disabilities, they require reinforcements/rewards to help motivate them to work. These rewards are mostly sensory based items as well as snacks. These sensory and snack items are currently limited in their homes. I would like to take some stress off the parents and assist them during this time.
My Project
The goal of this project is that with the use of the write and erase sheets, my students will be able maintain their routines that they established in school. During my live sessions, they will be able to use the lined paper and the write and wipe sheets to engage in the online lesson. My students need the lined paper to help them continue focusing on their fine motor skills at home. This is something that is currently lacking when using a computer or laptop for remote learning.
My students work hard and they deserve to be rewarded!
That is why the snacks (grandma cookies, lays chips, and Keebler cookies which are their favorite snacks) and the sensory items such as the bean bags and the sensory squish beads will be perfect to keep them engaged and motivated to continue online learning.
The goal of the cleaning supplies is that it will help the parents keep their child safe and healthy while teaching them at home. This will help relieve some of the financial burdens that these parents are currently facing.
