My Students
I am a reading teacher at an urban school in Indiana. I am one person, of many, who every day makes a difference in the lives of the students who enter our school. We build readers, writers, thinkers, scientists, historians, and mathematicians.
My school community is comprised of financially struggling families of all races, languages, and religions and extremely hardworking teachers and staff.
My classrooms are made up of students of all abilities, multiple language speakers and a variety of backgrounds. As a community, we are trying to give all the students attending our school an opportunity for a better future.
My Project
Our school is fortunate enough to be getting a brand new vending machine that delivers books to students. Students will have the opportunity to earn golden coins they can redeem for books from our new vending machine. We want all students to be represented by the books we fill our vending machine with. We have chosen a variety of titles that will support diversity, empathy, and a love for reading. We can't wait to be able to provide this opportunity for students to earn books they will love and be able to take them home and make them theirs!
