My Students

My students are a creative and engaged group, still at an age where they are motivated and excited to come to school and learn. About three-quarters of my class are English Language Learners. The majority come from low-income households and face many challenges.

What especially excites my students in the classroom are hands-on and integrated learning experiences!

It means a lot to them that school is a safe place where they not only feel cared for, but are engaged and challenged. They aspire to do wonderful things in this world and I believe that they will!

My Project

My students need the opportunity to express themselves and their learning using multiple modalities. Art is a great way to achieve both of these objectives.

Through the visual arts, students can transform their self-image.

Students who view themselves as low achieving or not smart academically can become stars in the classroom. Students can access a different side of the brain and develop themselves as well rounded learners and individuals. Artistic expression and appreciation enriches any classroom and enriches student's lives.

Help support my students with some good quality art materials (watercolor paints and brushes) so that they can have the possibility for creative expression!
