We Are Cooking! Excited to Learn and Eat!

Help me give my students the ability to make and taste the amazing things they are learning. We have 60+ students excited to be in the kitchen learning hands-on.

My Students

First semester teaching down and I've realized I Love what I do! I love working with the students. I love sharing my knowledge and experience with them. The majority of my students are autistic, I love their honesty and how they will try. I have challenged them in many ways this semester and they have done amazing!

This semester I think I have sparked a little culinary love and I am excited about the new semester and their enthusiasm to want to learn more.

Covid-19 has brought on so many feelings for all of us, but some of my students have PTSD from the couple of years of trying to work from home.

My Project

It's been a rough couple of years for students. We are trying our best to make learning fun as we come back from distance learning. I have 61 students interested in food! This is very exciting!

We don’t just teach them to cook but to use all types of equipment and currently we don’t have food processors, this will help me train them better for jobs in the culinary industry.

We need the paper products to allow them to try and take home what they have made. We have the budget for the food but what do you serve it to them in. We have beginning Foods 1, Culinary 3 to Food Science. Lots of excitement about food and nutrition. I am excited to teach them and grateful to learn from them as well. A lot of my students suffer from PTSD following home school. Their grades failed and they didn't handle being alone well. I teach at Spectrum Academy where the majority are autistic. If we can find ways to make learning fun and help them see they can accomplish anything they set their mind to, we will have succeeded through this Covid-19 disaster.
