My Students

In Kindergarten, my students are exposed to a challenging yet FUN environment of learning. My students are inquisitive learners and learn best when they are actively engaged in hands-on activities.

My school is in a small town and my kindergarten class is filled with bright personalities who love to share ideas, discover new things, and learn by doing.

As five and six-year-old children, students need time in their school day to discover, play and solve problems. My school has a wonderful sense of community and I have parent volunteers daily.

My Project

My students will learn how to interact socially, how to share and take turns, and how to be a good friend by using these Magna Tiles. They will also develop language development, math and building skills. In Kindergarten, the students will be able to use the Magna Tiles on daily basis during 'Learning Labs.' Learning Labs is a time in the day where students are able to choose an activity that is play based, yet the activity has academic and social benefits. Small groups of students will work together collaboratively to build with a common goal (ex; building a long train or tall skyscraper).When student ideas do not work well, they will work together to create a new plan to execute. Students will ultimately learn to work with others, create and follow through ideas with others, work through failed ideas by listening to one another, compromise and solve conflicts independently because students will not always agree.

Students will be continuously working together in a cooperative manner, ultimately positively influencing our classroom community.

Life is about building, working with others, and solving problems (social and academic).
