This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
I work with English Language Learners who are affected by poverty. My students are extremely resilient, talented, kind, and eager to learn new skills. There are currently over 12 different languages spoken at our small K-8 school. I love being an educator and enjoy creating a safe, positive atmosphere where all students can thrive. I do all that I can to see that my second language learners are set up for success. I create various language experiences while they are here at our school. The lessons and activities they participate in incorporate listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

Our school is an AVID school. AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination. My English Language Learners would benefit greatly from having binders to organize and keep subject related material all in one place. New binders will make it possible for my students to continue practicing positive AVID organizational skills, responsibility and ownership of their work. Thank you for taking the time to consider donating to our project.
