This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students in my class are always eager to learn new topics and information then pass it on to their classmates. I see them play teacher and they teach each other using all the resources I use, my vocabulary, and even my gestures. I want to continue to provide ample materials to make learning fun.

My students are from a variety of different cultures.

They lack many experiences and have limited language skills. Many of our students live in shelters or have switched schools 2 to 3 times this year alone. We are in the Bronx, so there are many inner city challenges to deal with. However, most of the student I have taught are resilient.

My Project

My students will have the chance to use all the alphabet objects in order to learn new vocabulary words and build scheme. The ABC letter of the week chart will allow the students to review, reteach, and practice in partnerships or small groups, each week's letter. A pencil sharper will keep the pencils sharp and ready for the students to write and draw all about the letters.

My students need a safe place to come to each day.

By providing a learning environment to help children feel safe, confident, and cared about will only improve a student's success in school. As a kindergarten teacher it is my job to make a child's first school experience fun.
