My Students

My students are hardworking, caring, and eager students trying to do the best they know how! I teach in a high poverty elementary school in a special education classroom. Each of my students are struggling in academic areas such as reading, writing, and mathematics. 66% of my students also have issues with behavior and social skills problem solving. Each day they come to school and face struggles that their same age peers do not have to face. Without the necessary tools to help them be successful. Despite all of the struggles and hardships they face, they come to school each and every day ready and eager to learn! They pour their hearts into learning at school, constantly working hard to find success and build confidence.

My Project

All students can feel success! For many of my students, it is hard to feel included in the general education classroom. Especially when things feel too hard or frustrating. My students often miss out on being able to participate in math games, read the same stories and texts as their peers, and write creative stories due to the difficulties and disabilities they face daily. Having an iPad allows them access to listen to read aloud stories, play appropriate math games, and write creative stories just like their peers increasing engagement in lessons across all school settings. Providing struggling students with confidence and feelings of inclusion!
