Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a teacher with an ESL background and working in a district and school with a high population of multilingual learners, my passion is to support them as best as I can and create a safe learning environment where they will feel comfortable and proud to expand and explore their bilingualism! Each year, we are faced with many newcomers and can feel lost on how we can help them. The materials I am requesting will help as a starting point. The flash cards with visuals, as well as the grade 1 sight words in both English and Spanish will help my students tremendously as this is a huge focus for us in reading. The bilingual rug will help teach all my students both the English/Spanish letters and sounds. It will also give us a space where we can all fit for lessons and reading time! Lastly, the bilingual books will be used for small group learning, independent reading and homework. Students should have the option to read in their native language. Thank you in advance for helping me support all learners, especially my English language learners.
