This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a rural, low income middle school. It's a Title 1 school. My students are English Language Learners from grades 6, 7 and 8 in Siler City in NC. We have a diverse student population with mostly Hispanic heritage.

My students are eager to learn and want to fit it, but sometimes life gets in the way.

Sometimes, a simple item might be out of their reach. Eighty percent of my students come from households with no or limited oral English skills. Sometimes, families don't have enough to provide for school supplies or even clothes. However, they come to school happy and ready to learn.

My Project

My students take a level test every year. We have analyzed the scores they got last school year and they have set their growth goals for this year. They want to improve all skills in their English language development.

Having these headphones will allow them to practice anytime and have the option to be prepared when their level test comes up.

Also, it will give them the freedom to complete their assignments at home, even when they have lots of noise around them. Let's help them build their learning bubbles.
