Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students live in a low-income, high-poverty area. Many students are English Language Learners and need experience with language. They may not have many opportunities at home after school or on weekends to practice their English skills.
All of the students at the school qualify for free lunches.
Many come to school hungry and tired because their families are concerned with affording day to day necessities. The school is a safe haven for many students. They need to create good working habits in order to succeed in the future!
My Project
My students need to keep up with the 21st century! They need to use up to date technology within the curriculum. Using digital microscopes will allow students to experience science and technology at the same time.
Students will continue the scientific process of hypothesis, observation, and conclusion using a digital microscope and a computer!
With many students watching television and internet videos, they have forgotten what the real world looks like. They do not experience many hands on activities except for what is provided for them. Therefore, students need to look at things close up, such as dirt, bugs, and leaves. I want to show them how to observe the world that is around them.
