Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach a 2 classes of 16 (and counting) smart 3 and 4-year-old students that are working hard to get ready for Kindergarten. These students go to a high need school with very few resources to spare for our growing early childhood program.
Due to the growing interest in our dual language program, we get new students every week and our class has finally grown to the point where my students no longer fit on our carpet. They receive most of their instruction on the carpet, but because they do not all fit, they are often uncomfortable or distracted. They are working hard to get ready for Kindergarten and learn about books and letters but often can't see the pictures in the books that we read.
In order for my young students to be fully focused on instruction and engaged in our read alouds and carpet activities, I need a carpet where they can all comfortably sit.
