I work with English Language Learners in a low socioeconomic community. Most students I work with live in a shared household where multiple families live together to reduce the cost of living. Many of my students are children of immigrant parents who have limited educations.
The students I work with are eager learners and meet new challenges with enthusiasm.
They always put forth their maximum effort and try to complete a given task to the best of their abilities.
I have a special bond with my students and this community because our school was once my school when I was an elementary school student. I loved this school as a student and love it even more now as a teacher. I have very fond memories of my childhood here and want to provide those same kind of memories for my students.
I work in a wonderful community and am very proud and honored to say that I am a product of the community in which I teach. My students love when I share stories of the time when I was a student at our school.
My Project
We need these science journals to help reinforce the fourth grade science standards. These journals will meet this need for my students. These journals will let my students maintain all their science notes and the information they are learning in one journal that will allow them to keep their work organized.
Having these journals allows my students to easily carry the science information they have learned in one journal.
They can also easily access this new information and apply it when needed.
In addition to the science journals, we also need clear and stackable bins in which to store our science supplies. These bins will maintain our science supplies in an organized fashion.
