I teach in rural Nevada. The school I am at is 100% free breakfast/lunch program. A large portion of my school is Hispanic, with many of them being second language learners. My school is preK-5, but as the music teacher, I only see K-5. We have over 500 students attending our school. I have had the privilege of teaching music to them for 11 years now, after spending 16 years in the regular education program.
I am so excited to see what DonorsChoose.org can do for my music program, since I receive no annual budget for my class.
My Project
My students play instruments in the music room ~ A LOT!! But as it "stands" now, they have to place their music on the floor while they play, or lay it on top of the instrument. It is very inconvenient! I would like to purchase portable, foldable music stands that will support their sheet music while they play. The Grand Stand, sold by Woodwind & Brasswind is perfect!
Having these portable music stands will make it so much easier for my students to be successful while playing their music ~ and they are foldable, so they will be easy to store!
