This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Students come to school with big feelings and more often than not those feelings affect their relationships in the classroom and their learning.
The calming corner is a safe space for students to self-regulate their emotions and feelings.
It will give students an opportunity to do some breathing, unwind, refocus and then rejoin the class in a calmer state of mind.
This space will include pillows and a mat for a comfortable space to retreat when needed. The basket will hold items such as stress balls, fidget items, noise cancelling headphones, and calming water tubes to help them refocus and manage their emotions.
