We All Must Look Alike

My Students

Our school is a Title I school. Title I means that 90% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. Our school is located in a low income area. Our students work very hard every day. Our school has a 97% attendance rate, which means they rarely miss school. My students are very inquisitive and vocal. Many of my students are very active.

Our school is one of the most diverse schools in Memphis, TN.

Our students speak multiple languages including English, Spanish, Arabic, Hindu, Amharic and Swahili. My students have a strong sense of community.

My Project

Now over halfway through the year, our students have grown and we are transitioning from winter to spring. We want to ensure that our students are meeting the daily uniform expectations, but also that they are comfortable and ready to learn.

We are in need of new collared shirts and uniform pants for many students so that we can keep them in our classrooms, focused, and ready for the day!

Between standardized tests, the achievement gap, language barriers, social acceptance, and so many other obstacles, students have a lot on their plates. We hope to aid students with some of these obstacles if possible. The feeling of self-worth that comes from clean clothes is irreplaceable. Students need to be able to focus on academics and not their clothing.

We can help our students stay engaged and continue to increase attendance by providing access to this school essential for students in need. Your donations will be greatly appreciated by the students and staff at Winchester.
