This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are amazing four-year-olds from the US and Mexico. Most are Spanish speaking or bilingual students. Our classroom is a bilingual prekindergarten class located on the Texas/Mexico border in what has been ranked the " Poorest City in America," but that is not what you will find in this class. You will find students who are eager to learn and excited about their first year of schooling. We take pride in creating an environment that gets students excited for learning to create a strong starting point to becoming lifelong learners. These students are sponges for learning and come in every day with the willingness and determination to learn and succeed.

My Project

Getting the attention of students and keeping it is a fundamental part of teaching children. When students do not have a clear view of a lesson, book, or are unable to see the teacher's examples of work, they lose interest and therefore learning does not happen. This document camera will help me to display lessons on a large scale onto a screen so that all students will have a clear view. Lessons will be clear to all because they will be able to be seen. Books will no longer only be seen by students in the front row of the classroom, but rather will be seen from all angles because of the larger projection of pages. With the assistance of this document camera, all students will have an equal view and therefore an equal opportunity to learn.
