This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

What I love most about my first grade students is their curiosity, kindness, and the way they light up when they see themselves in a story. Each child comes with a unique background, culture, and perspective that makes our classroom community so special.

I want to create a literacy area that reflects who they are—where the books on our shelves represent every skin tone, family type, language, and dream.

A diverse and inclusive reading space will help my students see that they matter, that their stories are valued, and that they all belong here.

With your support, this literacy corner will become a place where every child feels safe, celebrated, and inspired to fall in love with reading.
