Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

"My students are a fantastic group of curious, fun, and energetic individuals who love to come to school and interact with their peers and teachers. I have initiated a project to help my newcomer students feel safe and comfortable by providing them with the necessary tools to work through any strong emotions they may be experiencing as a result of moving to a new country. All the great reads will help spark conversations with my students about present and past life experiences. The sensory tools and books will help them focus, regulate emotions, and enhance learning.

One of the biggest concerns for newcomer families is to feel a sense of stability and acceptance in their new environment.

At my school, the staff have truly gone above and beyond to ensure that new members of our school community feel welcome.
