Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My 4th and 5th grade students are excited, energetic, and full of questions. In our social studies class we learn about a variety of things, from facts about our state of Oklahoma, to our national government and how we became the United States of America. We look at where we have been and hope to learn lessons from our past as we go into the future.
My students want to be successful, they want to prepare well as they find their way to their future.
Each day as they come into my classroom, they bring their own history, their own issues and the road blocks that hinder their growth and learning as they walk through their day.
My students aspire to great things. In my classroom I want them to believe in themselves, to understand that hard work is often part of the plan for success. I want to help them understand that no matter what road blocks are put in front of them, the creative, inquisitive mind will find a way. I want to show them how to be problem solvers, to fix the things they can and then find a way to reach their goals.
My Project
Students enjoy learning and telling others about their character. They will use these books to understand their subject and the costumes will help them portray their subject well as they learn more about our nation's history and influential people.
Each year we strive to make sure that every student has a costume and whatever else they need to complete their presentation and fully become their character.
These costumes will help students feel confident as they present their character to the audience and share all that they know about them.
