My students need watercolor paper, brushes, and watercolors to connect art to literature.
"A child who reads will be an adult who thinks." This quote summarizes the importance of reading. I am blessed to work with a diverse population of students at varying ability levels. The one trait that all my students share is diligence. They want to improve their reading and writing skills.
Our school is located in a low socioeconomic neighborhood.
Over 80% of our students qualify for free or reduced price lunch. The students are eager to learn and strive to become productive law abiding citizens. We work diligently to improve our academic skills in reading and language.
The art supplies will be used in an independent learning station that students will rotate through to intertwine art and descriptive writing. As students write using sensory details, they will use watercolors to paint a vivid picture to connect the writing and art.
"Writing is the painting of the voice." The art supplies will help motivate my students to work to the best of their ability and be proud of their creativity.
Students' art and writing will be displayed for other students, administrators and visitors to enjoy. Your donation will prove that people believe in them and support their educational endeavors.
