My Project

My students are a group of incredibly talented young artists in Springfield, MA, who are eager to explore the world of watercolor painting. Despite coming from an inner-city environment with limited access to quality art materials, their creativity knows no bounds. Their diverse cultural backgrounds deeply enrich their artistic expression, and they deserve the opportunity to shine using these tools.

Through this watercolor unit, I hope to provide them with good supplies and foundational instruction in color theory, painting techniques, and landscape composition.

Our school serves a beautifully diverse student population, many of whom are from low-income households and under-resourced communities. These young artists bring a wide range of cultural influences and life experiences to their art, giving their work a richness and depth that is truly inspiring. They are passionate, hardworking, and hungry for more opportunities to grow creatively. With the right materials and instruction, they can thrive as artists and express stories that deserve to be seen and heard.

To nurture their growth, I am requesting quality watercolor supplies. These materials will be used in a structured unit where students will learn the basics of color mixing, brush control, layering, and composition. The workshop will culminate in landscape paintings that reflect their personal and cultural perspectives—turning our classroom into a vibrant gallery of visual storytelling.

Art can be a powerful tool for empowerment and self-expression. With the right resources, my students will not only build foundational skills in visual arts but also confidence in their voices as young creatives. Access to quality materials sends a clear message: your art matters. This project will affirm their potential and help them see the value in their unique perspectives.
