This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are learning how to control the medium to create smooth blending and multiple values. By enlarging their subjects, they will focus on fine details, transitions, and the expressive qualities of watercolor.

The materials I’ve requested—high-quality watercolor paper, liquid and palette watercolors, and fine-tip Sharpie markers—will make a significant impact on their learning.

The watercolor paper will allow for proper absorption and blending, preventing warping and enabling smoother transitions. Liquid and palette watercolors will give students the ability to layer and mix colors with more precision, while the Sharpie fine-tip markers will help define edges and add contrast to their compositions. With these tools, students will gain confidence in their artistic abilities and refine their technical skills.

My goal for this project is to teach students how to observe closely, translate details into expressive brushwork, and develop patience and control in their watercolor techniques. This lesson not only enhances their artistic abilities but also encourages mindfulness and creative problem-solving.

My students are incredibly special because of their curiosity and willingness to explore new techniques. They thrive when given the right tools to create, and I want to provide them with the best materials to support their artistic growth. Many of my students don’t have access to professional-grade supplies, and this project will give them the opportunity to experience the full potential of watercolor painting. With your support, they can deepen their artistic skills and take pride in their creative achievements.
