Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My scholars are very energetic, optimistic, and eager readers, with grit that is sure to take them on many flights of fancy as they travel from my room to and through college.

My scholars love to read novels and create stories of their own.

Some of them even make their own little comic books. It brightens my day to see their zest for learning and to see them exploring the possibilities beyond the walls of our classroom. They are truly on the road to becoming lifelong learners and productive citizens in their communities.

My Project

Drinking water is a great way to help students stay hydrated and healthy. In our classroom, students always ask if they can go get water. Due to COVID 19 restrictions, water fountains aren't available for them to use. Students are encouraged to bring in water bottles, but not every student has that option. I want to change that.

Being able to provide each student with a water bottle will make sure that they have water readily available.

The water bottles come with tops to keep water spouts covered when not in use. The tops will provide extra protection from germs, especially during this time of a pandemic. Research has also shown that adequate hydration can improve cognitive function in children and adolescents. The water bottles will be washed daily and kept at school for daily use. Not only will drinking more water help my students become healthier, but I am also hoping that students will begin to see the benefits and will continue this habit as they get older.
