Water Table for Preschoolers in Rural Hawai'i!

Help me give my students a sand/water table with tops and smocks to learn how water works and encourage science and math skills!

My Students

My scholars are a lively group of preschoolers that live in a rural community on Hawai'i Island. Their passion for learning new things is so inspiring despite the challenges of virtual learning during the first semester.

This month, we are welcoming our students into our preschool classroom for the first time this year.

For most of them, this is their first experience in school and in a real classroom. They are so excited and are looking forward to interacting with her teachers, experiencing hands-on learning, and making new friends. As their teacher, I hope to provide opportunities for learning where they will nurture their early reading and math skills, begin to build their critical thinking processes, and encourage them to explore and wonder about their world.

My Project

A Sand/Water Table gives students opportunities to develop fine and gross motor skills in a fun and engaging way. The sand/water table introduces children to early science concepts such motion, flowing water, and provides them an opportunity to predict if something will sink or float.

A Sand/Water Table will provide our preschoolers with opportunities to develop their creativity and imagination.

It's an amazing sensory experience and will introduce them to many different textures and temperatures (ice, water left in the sun, water from the faucet). Having a Water Table in our classroom would be such a great addition that will provide countless hours of exploring, learning and fun!
