Help me give my students water bottles to reduce the cups we are using! We can't use the water fountains because of the pandemic, and many of my students can't afford a water bottle.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are all newly arrived immigrants and refugees who are just beginning to learn English. They attend a Title I school in Charlotte, NC, where they learn leadership and technology skills in addition to standard curriculum.
Many of them have tough home lives but school is where they come to feel safe.
My Project
It seems like a small thing, but having students need a get a cup and go to the water fountain means they leave class more often. We're also going through a LOT of cups each day, which is tough on the environment. These water bottles will reduce our environmental impact and help class run more smoothly. Our students often can't afford basic like clothes and food, so water bottles just don't get purchased.
I plan to label each water bottle with the student's name, grade and homeroom teacher to make sure they don't get lost or mixed up!
