This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Do you remember what it was like to experience music? How it felt to move and feel the beat in your body. How irresistible it was? This is a feeling I want to bring to my students.
I teach Kindergarten music at a low-income, extremely high energy Elementary School in Pennsylvania.
My students have had very little musical experiences, and I want to provide them with the opportunity to feel music and see it bloom. We have very few supplies and what we do own is old and is in desperate need of repair. These supplies will enhance my classroom significantly.
My Project
My kinderbabies are such sweet, energetic students. They would really enjoy the opportunity to watch music come alive by using ribbon wands and scarves. The colors swirling makes the music seem tangible. I have a vision of incorporating Eurythmics into my music classroom. I feel that it's extremely important for students to be able to feel and see the music, as well as hear it. Using the colored bells will make it easier for my students to see what notes need to be played. Adding to our instrument library will assist me in including all students, as opposed to having some sit out since there aren't enough instruments. This project will enable my students to watch music explode into color and bloom into petals of sound.
Your donation will help me make my classroom more exciting and beautiful.
This project is something mt students have never seen before. It's an innate feeling to move to music! Please help me to provide this joy to my kindergarten students.
