This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

One of the main focuses of our school is to teach our students life skills. Skills that they will be able to use when they graduate and become functioning members of society. We also focus on skills that will allow them to manage and control their emotions and behaviors. To do this, we get very creative and try to expose them to strategies that everyone can use in their daily lives.

Learning how to take care of a living object is a key part to growing.

This project will provide my classroom with a specific area to grow and maintain plants for my students to water and care for. Not only will this teach them the importance life skill of taking care of objects, it will also allow them to learn that watering and caring for plants is a meaningful and necessary life skill to have. In my classroom, we have daily classroom jobs that each student must participate in. Bringing in plants will allow my students to have another job to complete while learning important life skills at the same time.
