My students need an iPad and case to aid in communication for bilingual student, participation in Stock Market, ebooks, work on aleks math, and educational apps.
Sir James Dewar once said, "Minds are like parachutes. They only function when they are open." Please consider your donation to be a ripcord to my students' parachutes. This mini iPad will open up my students' minds and brighten their future. This is iPad #5 towards the goal of 10 iPads.
My school is an alternative learning center for students who struggle with learning in a traditional environment.
Up until this year, these 6th, 7th, and 8th graders did not have "a place of their own" but mixed in with the 9th - 12th graders. That is about to change this coming school year. My classroom is a newly created classroom for these students so that they may soar and show their true potential. There is a plethora of reasons why a student would be placed with me but the goals remain the same, to help these students become lifelong learners and productive citizens with good character. All of my students are unique and talented with a variety of learning styles and diverse needs. My classroom will be filled with many opportunities for success and this project is only a part of that.
My Project
This mini iPad will be utilized in five very specific ways plus others that might pop up. (1) This year I have a Spanish only speaking student and I don't happen to speak any Spanish. This iPad will aid in the communication between us so that this student can succeed. (2) I would like for my students to participate in the Stock Market Game with its full potential. As everyone knows, the stock market waits for no one and so my students need to be able to check on their stocks daily. In order to do this, they need to have consistent technology available at their finger tips. (3)The students will also utilize the mini iPad for ebooks. Reading is important for success and ebooks are a perfect option for my students. (4) Aleks math is part of my kids' daily math routine. Doing it on an ipad is very motivating. (5)There are many educational apps that would provide a different type of learning for my kids. These apps provide remediation, enrichment, challenges, and more in all subject areas.
Finding tools that middle school students enjoy doing is difficult but students love working with iPads.
