Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach at a Title I school in Oklahoma City where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
"It takes a village to raise a child!" I am a teacher in a low-income, high poverty school district where my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom.
Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
My students love to read and love lots of positive attention. Many of them are being raised in single-parent households and receive free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. These things may prevent them from getting ahead early in life and may not provide them with the life experiences many of us see as "typical". Despite the challenges, my students work hard and are eager and excited to learn.
From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hoping to inspire our next generation!
My Project
I am requesting a printer and ink which will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create. My classroom is a place that my students really enjoy! I read to them daily, they complete work, and they read independently! It is necessary to close the academic gap, and having access to a working printer to aid instruction and provide skills' practice which will help the students reach academic success!
With this new printer, my students will be able to stay organized and continue to work daily on the road to academic success.
This project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word.
