Help me give my students the books they need to get them reading books; books that are at their level and will help them build their skills and confidence.
Every student has a personality and will learn differently. It is up to me, as a teacher, to help develop the learning and inquisitive nature of each individual student in my classroom. Having tools and supplies to teach organization and independence in kindergarten helps get these little thinkers off on the right path. Once they are organized and independent, I can focus on overwhelmingly satisfying their intellectual needs and curiosity about the world.
My students are imaginative, ingenious and very impromptu.
They appreciate activities that involve movement, they love to explore reading and desire lots of positive attention. They have questions that need answers and desire to discover those answers on their own. The sky is the limit for these young minds. Together we focus on their potential. I choose to create an environment where they will feel safe and encouraged to explore knowledge. It is my desire to inspire each student to reach for the stars on their academic journey to excellence.
My Project
My kindergartners want to read, yet some of them are just starting off with blending sounds together. Our current classroom library is not very big and many of the books are too high for my beginning readers. These books are just their level and many of them will allow them to use the skills we practice in class with blending sounds to read words. Having these books will help build the foundation they need to begin reading on their own and build the confidence to keep going.

My students know the power of YET and they know although they may not be reading fluently yet, with these books, they have the opportunity to reach that goal.
