Imagine waking up for school but having no clean clothes to wear. What do you do? On one hand, you could go to school and risk feelings of embarrassment. On the other hand, you could stay home and risk falling behind in your schoolwork. We have seen firsthand how the choice between coming to school in dirty clothes or staying home can affect a child's social-emotional and academic well-being.
A simple solution is for us to set up a washer and dryer within the school where parents can wash their children's clothes free of charge.
This will allow students to have clean clothes to wear, thus improving both their school attendance as well as their self-esteem!
Adding laundry facilities have been a proven benefit to many schools across the country already. Not only does it increase school attendance, but it also prevents the schools' stockpile of clothes for needy kids from depleting too quickly. An added benefit is fewer classroom disruptions due to bullying.
We appreciate all donations towards this project. If you know of someone willing to help us bring this project to life, please share our project's link with them. Thank you so much!
