Warped Wires 5th Grade Legacy Sculpture

My Project

Creating a sculpture has been a Fifth-grade tradition at our school for more than 10 years.

Our end-of-the-year Grade 5 Sculpture Project will be an amazing hands-on experience for students to tap into their creativity and artistic qualities.

Our project involves shaping a wire and nylon stocking to create a sculpture that students can then bring to life using acrylic paint and embellishments.

We will first be looking at some famous artists and sculptures for inspiration. Students will sketch ideas on paper and then build sculptures using woodblocks, wire, nylons, and then paint - ultimately creating their 2D design into a dynamic 3D sculpture!

For my project, I am looking for donations of art supplies to help my students create their sculptures. We are in desperate need of a selection of new acrylic paint colors for students to choose from for their sculptures. I am also asking for assorted-sized paintbrush sets for students to be able to paint with detail and care.

My students have impressed me all year with their individuality and creativity. They possess many qualities great artists have, such as; PERSISTENCE, PASSION, FEARLESSNESS, DISCIPLINE, PATIENCE, and, CREATIVITY!

My students missed out on many hands-on opportunities and experiences these past two years due to the Covid pandemic and they are LOVING being back in person at school and in the classroom. They also LOVE to create. Please consider making a donation to support art projects in an upper elementary classroom and help my students create and shine!
