This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Many students find reading to be challenging and honestly, it is! Reading is not something that we are born doing. It is something that we have to learn and make connections to, which in turn will allow us to enjoy it.
Graphic novels are just another form of writing that my students can use to foster their love for reading.
Graphic novels are great for students who may have difficulty reading traditional books, because of their highly visual content. These visuals help engage students as they read and help students who are just learning the English language make connections to what they are reading.
I will use graphic novels to teach reading in my classroom, giving students another pathway to enhance their ability to read. These books will spark an interest in reading, which is what every teacher and parent hopes to do.
I was wondering if you could help give my class the opportunity to learn? If students are interested in reading they will excel in all subject areas, use their imagination to take them to faraway places, and enjoy school and learning.
With this type of literature, my students will be given the opportunity to increase their love for reading. These children are our future and I believe through books, my students will not only be given the opportunities that they deserve in order to learn but also to dream.
