My Students
My students come from a rural farming community in South Central Oklahoma. Most students I teach have parents that are working in the oil or farming industry. We have a high free and reduced lunch rate percentage which means most of our students are eating in the cafeteria every day.
We also have many students receiving backpack food to take home on the weekends to help supplement their meals while they are not in school.
Students are in grades 7-12 in our Jr. Sr. High School.
My Project
Some of the students at Maysville High School struggles with hygiene issues simply because they do not have the funds at home to buy personal care products that they need. Students are sometimes bullied because of not being clean or smelling nice. By receiving these supplies, we can hand out to students to use at school and home to make sure they are clean and healthy. Students will then have no worries while at school and be able to concentrate solely are their schoolwork and be able to succeed in class. These students will really appreciate the extra items to use at home.
