My Project

Recently, a psychologist came to observe my classroom. She was kind and encouraging of my teaching methods, but told me that I really need to be sensitive to my students' sensory needs. It made me try some sensory activities, including stretching, brain breaks, calm breathing, and floor time.

You wouldn't think that sitting on the floor would make such a big difference, but students with sensory processing difficulties need a variety of seating options in order to increase their on-task behavior and engagement with lessons.

The items I chose are tools that will help my students with the self-management skills they urgently need.
