Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am writing to request support with classroom items such as an iPad and small candy incentives to help provide emotional support and encouragement for my students. I am writing to respectfully request a few items that would greatly support both the academic and emotional needs of my students.

First, an iPad would be an invaluable tool for tracking student behaviors and monitoring progress toward goals.

This would allow me to document patterns, celebrate improvements, and reward positive behaviors in a consistent and organized way.

A whiteboard for our morning meetings would also be extremely helpful. Each day, I use this time to build community by writing positive messages, affirmations, and goals to help students start the day with encouragement and focus. Having a dedicated whiteboard would make these messages more visible and meaningful.

In addition, I have begun using small incentives such as candy and snacks to motivate students and reinforce positive choices. Many of my students come from homes where they receive free or reduced lunch, and, at times, they are genuinely hungry. Providing light snacks helps them stay focused, calm, and ready to learn.

Finally, I am requesting copy paper for morning meeting activities where students share feelings, reflect on emotions, and practice healthy communication. These materials would greatly enhance our social-emotional learning and help create a positive, supportive classroom environment for all students.
