My Project

I currently work as a special education teacher in a lower-income section of my district, as a self-contained classroom teacher for children with autism.

My students range from first to fourth grade.

All of my students display a range of needs and challenges that, although common to being on the Autism Spectrum, are truly unique to them. Additionally, many of my students who come from a lower-income household are also in need of support when it comes to warmer clothing, food, tissues and extra learning supplies for home.

Each of my students struggle with limitations that include social and academic delays, as well as communication and behavioral challenges that require modifications, individualized materials, as well as options of materials for generalization. Each student requires something very different from the next. Having an abundance of resources like STEM Toys, puzzles, party favor box etc., and supplies to use such as different writing materials and organizational items: zipper bags, helps to ensure the students are getting all they can. Additionally having access to sites such as Teacher Pay Teacher allows for appropriate work taskspractice and proojects that can be modified to fit their unique needs. Despite the challenges that my students have to live with and face every day, they work tremendously hard to overcome these limitations.

Ensuring that students with autism make the gains and strides that are necessary in order for them to truly be as independent as possible requires an infinite amount of resources that could be utilized in order to assist in their learning and growth.

The materials I am requesting will help ensure I am able to meet each of my students' individual goals by specifically targeting exactly what they require and help aide in their comfort levels to ensure they are warm and have appropriate learning practice materials at home.
