Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach in a public school in the Bronx, where many of my students face challenges beyond the classroom. Some are currently experiencing homelessness, living in shelters, or come from families receiving public assistance. As the cold weather sets in, many of them simply don’t have access to basic essentials like warm clothing.

That’s why I’m asking for your help.

This project will provide my students with hoodies, sweaters, gloves and socks simple yet crucial items that will help them stay warm on their daily walks to and from school.

Many of my students come to school without gloves or hats in the winter. Some have never owned a warm hoodie or pair of wool socks. Others may lose these items or not have the means to replace them. With your support, students will have access to extra items they can take home when needed ensuring they stay warm even on the coldest days.

This project will also benefit families in need. If a parent is struggling, they’ll be able to pick up a pair of gloves or a hat for their child. These small acts of care make a huge difference.

Our school is more than just a place to learn it’s a safe space, and we want to ensure every child feels cared for and supported, especially in harsh winter weather.

With your generosity, we can wrap our students in warmth and love one hoodie, one glove, one scarf at a time.
