My Students

Hardworking, adaptable, compassionate, diligent, and reliable are just a few words used to describe my students. Hearing those adjectives, it is hard to imagine they attend a school where 96% of students are classified as low-income. Given that fact, they don't let it hinder their education.

I teach at a neighborhood school where low-income does not equate to low-academics.

Because of their dedication to education, I want to be sure that as they grow, more adjectives can be added to the list to describe them. There is no limit to who or what they can be. Ultimately, when they are asked to describe themselves, the first word spoken should be inspirational.

My Project

The requested materials will help keep my students warm, fresh, fed, and clean. With the cold weather upon us, kids either don't have or constantly lose their hats and scarves. Being able to have these items available will remove the worry of students traveling to and from school and not being warm. My girls are young and many of them are beginning their menstrual cycle. I want to help remove the worry of not being protected, and having feminine wipes and sanitary napkins will help alleviate that worry.

Students should not have to worry about remaining fresh throughout the school day, so providing them with deodorant and feminine cleaning wipes will remove any worry about freshness.

At the end of the day, my students are awesome and come to school eager to learn. Having a few snacks available throughout the day for them will help keep them going when they need a little extra something to eat between breakfast, lunch and the end of the day.
