This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Down bags offer superior warmth to weight ratio when backpacking or camping in the mountains. Synthetic bags, while cheaper, simply do not match the quality of down.

Help us replace our older synthetic sleeping bags with light, down, waterproof, quality bags.

In helping update our bags, students will be able to pack lighter on our upcoming backpacking trips and sleep warmer, expanding the temps we hike in. The desired learning outcome in using lighter gear will be learning how to pack efficiently for high country trips and weight management of their packs.

Every ounce matters when you're carrying it on your shoulders, so having lighter bags would be a blessing. Additionally, quality down bags usually have a water coating for those damp fall mornings that thaw out after a cold night of freezing temps. These students have been troopers using older bags, and it is time to reward them with better gear. It will make a huge difference in their comfort and stamina on trips. This Sea to Summit bag is not only light, but toasty warm for when temps drop down in the 20s.
