This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are in middle school. I am a special education teacher therefore all of my direct service students are diverse learners, which means they have special needs. My students have significant developmental delays including severe learning disabilities, autism, or other social-emotional difficulties. My students are included in a classroom of their peers with my support.
My focus subject is 6-8 grade math, but all subjects are supported as well as life skills being taught.
My kids are from the low-income areas. We are an excellent school with wonderful student scholars and very dedicated teachers and staff. As with most schools, our budget is limited.
My students deserve a chance to excel even during remote learning.
My Project
For this project, I am requesting a variety of sizes of jackets for some of my male students. They don't like bulky warm coats and instead prefer to layer their clothes. So they wear a t-shirt under a hoodie under their jacket. Many of my older boys have had growth spurts since last winter season. This is why they are in need of new clothes this year.
Some of the boys simply have limited winter attire and their families have little, if not no, means to buy their sons new clothes.
So I hope that I am able to secure these items for my students one DonorsChoose.org project at a time.
