Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are hard workers at an urban, inner-city school. All of our students get free breakfast and lunch. More than half of my students come from families where English is not the first language, and in many cases school is their only exposure to English.

My students come to school each day excited to learn and to see what the day has in store for them.

The students come from varied family situations, including some who live with grandparents and some who live with other relatives. I am always looking for ways to keep my students excited about their learning and ways to give them many possibilities in their educational experiences.

My Project

With the coats I will know that each of my students will come to school warm and ready to learn. Many of my students walk to school or wait outside for the bus.

While the coats will keep their bodies warm, the food will keep their bellies full on day when there is no school.

I will use the food to create care packages for my students when we go on long breaks or when their family has a need.

With warm bodies and full bellies my students will be able to focus on their learning each and every day.
