I teach an eager group of first graders who love to learn!

My classroom consists of a high percentage of students living in poverty and many with English as their second language. Many of my students are on free or reduced breakfast and lunch. Many of my students lack stability in their home with some experiencing trauma no child should ever face. My goal is to create a positive, engaging, stable learning environment for every child. No matter what is going on at home, my students always do their best! They deserve a safe and calming environment to learn!

My Project

My amazing students deserve the best possible education! Have you ever tried to focus on a task when you're cold? What about if you are over-stimulated? It is not our best work. Just like us, children need to have their needs met before they can be ready to learn.

My students need materials like sweaters, scoop rockers and light covers to create a calming environment.

Our school building can fluctuate in temperature greatly and sometimes the classroom becomes very cold. Our school has a uniform policy, but many of my students do not have the resources to have a sweater to keep at school for when they get cold.

Finally, chapped lips make it hard to focus so my students will benefit greatly from their own lip balm to keep at school. Allowing my students to get their basic needs met will keep their minds growing and their bodies healthy!
