This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

There is never a dull moment in our room. Walk-in and you will find general ed., special ed., and English language learner students all learning and thriving together. We are constantly finding more opportunities to learn from one another and reflect on our own work.

My students attend a full-inclusion, low-income, urban school where all students qualify for free meals.

The boys and girls come from many different backgrounds and are in a unique environment that allows students with special needs to learn alongside their typically developing peers.

Most of my students are faced with challenges everyday. However, they come to school happy and eager to learn. These children are given the opportunity to become leaders in their own classroom and models for their peers as they take ownership of all that happens in the classroom. The students are extremely proud of their work and their leader status. I hear them talking about it with their classmates, and I've had several parents happily repeat this to me. It is a joy to be a part of their lives.

My Project

This is How We Clean Up! Maintaining a clean classroom during a pandemic can be extremely difficult. During times when some parents are cautious of getting the COVID vaccination for themselves and their children, it is still crucial that some measures are taken to attempt to keep classrooms healthy.

These requests are aimed to help students arrive at a school classroom optimal for learning and free of sickness-causing germs or viruses.

We prepare them for outdoor learning, which we are doing a lot of during this Omicron surge.

Spray disinfectant can be used with paper towels daily to clean desks and other high-traffic surfaces. Once a week, we can use disinfectant wipes to clean. Another measure is to wear masks to stop the spread of viruses. Secondly, we offer a tissue to those with runny or sneezing noses and hand soap for washing hands. Implementing all of these measures are attempts to keep everyone that comes and goes from this classroom safe and healthy.
